Intro, and some info about the current track I'm doing.

Posted by SilverFoxJams - September 19th, 2014

Well, my first real name is Marianne. You all may call me Mari for short if you prefer. (Most of everyone I chat to online does so.) Or you could address me by SilverFox, or SFJ, or even “That Lady With the Awesome Jams”. Whichever you prefer. :P

I’m a Capricorn. My personality type is ISFJ (Introverted Sensitive Feeling Judging). I love music, writing, reading, games (video games and board/tabletop games), animation (both Japanese and American), comics, manga, and once in a while I sketch or do a little computer art. I like most animals, but I don’t have a pet. I’m indecisive about having another since after the last two cats I loved very much have both died some years back, and not of old age. :(  I’ve just been too occupied in things to really consider on it... Oh, and I'm a long time lurker on NG. I decided to finally make an account a while back, for a third place to share my music, and some art too I suppose.

As for anything related to my music... I go by the same username on AcidPlanet.com. There’s no real story behind my artist name. It was just the first thing that came to mind, for some reason. Out of the blue. I don’t plan on changing it either.

There’s some really talented people over at AP too, by the way! I wonder if my faves from there they can be found around here, or on Sound Cloud... I’ll look later, haha. Busy writing all this up!

Registration for a regular account there on AP is free. They also announce remixes from time to time. I know I once participated in submitting 2 remixes of a Frou Frou song ages ago, and the song was called “Breathe In”. You may know of her, or you may not. Frou Frou’s a fairly famous singer. Through AP was when I first ever heard of her... I didn’t win on either entries I’ve done, but I had fun putting them together! (I especially remember the good times when I was first experimenting with her pretty vocals.) Wasn’t very good like my more current tracks (though the “Beach Mix” version is a bit decent I guess--but the audio quality is bad), but I got better and better years later.

What sucks about AP now is the changes they’ve made when I went on an unexpected 3-4 year hiatus from music making. Only someone with an account can play or download stuff now. Which is why Newgrounds and Sound Cloud are better in that way. But that's not too bad, considering.

....I’m getting ahead of myself a bit.

In the beginning, this friend of my family had the Acid Pro 2.0 software, and he was making his own things, but when he got a newer version of the software, he gave the old version to me sometime in the summer of 2001. I know I was still in high school then, and have been making tunes on and off since then. I still do use the software for arranging, dissecting samples I find or ones I make, and saving the final product after mixing them all together. An excellent and easy to use program, Acid Pro is. It’s a little like painting a picture, but with words and sounds.

I’ve done a lot of stuff, and in various styles in genres from acid or fusion jazz to funk to rock...and industrial, regular techno, and ambience. Even did a cinematic kind of instrumental with my other canon-based tribute to the Animorphs book series, very much one of my favorite book series of all time. (I’ll upload that one eventually! Check out ”Tobias the Bird Boy” if you haven’t already.)

Now I’m increasingly getting even better, now that I’m able to make some of my own original samples, and I’ve been dissecting loops I use, and shifting pitch more. Aside from that, experimenting with Audacity is quite a joyful trip! I’ve come up with some really neat stuff. The samples I’ve already uploaded on NG are only a little of what I’ve done. Some of my best stuff I’m going to save for this dark ambience thing for a later time. ;)

My current project is huge! Really, I’ve got a lot to do on my first remix of my original stuff. I’m a quarter way done with it. Still a while to go! It’s a remix of my first dubstep, “Duh-Duh-Duh Dubstep”. It's in my uploads, the original mix that is. Came out great, and I felt like putting on a new and different spin on it.

I love the dubstep genre. It’s so great to get into, for both creating, and listening.

This remix will be of two genres--part rave, part dubstep. A LOT will go into it. It may be another week or so until I’m done, even as I'm finally done putting together my own custom beat for a segment in it I'm actually satisfied with. It took me three to four days to get it right! That was really tough for me to figure out.

I started doing custom beats in my newest creation, which I already uploaded, called “Preach it, My Brotha”. It’s quite good.  Two reviews say my mini beat with one shots was out of sync.  Their input motivated me to improve on this.

After I finish the remix, I already have a choice to do one of two future projects; to do a dark ambient full of really cool Sci-Fi sound effects and possibly music loops I’ve created, or my own attempt at making a track using mostly Windows sounds. (I've heard all 3 of Step’s "All Hail Windows" last week. The third is the most epic, and I felt inspired after first listening to it. I thought, “hey, I should give that a try!” LOL, and I already sort of know what it will sound like and came up with a title name. “Windows on the Fritz”)

Okay, now to click on that Submit button and see if that annoying error is all gone.

EDIT: No more error page. Great! Many thanks again to liljim for the help in fixing that problem.
